Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry

Advancing soil fertility, nutrient management, and sustainable coffee cultivation through research, innovation, and precision technology.

About the Division

The Division was established to conduct experiments on soil fertility and nutrient requirements under diverse agro-climatic conditions. It focuses on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), soil fertility mapping, agro-chemical analysis, and scientific nutrient recommendations.

Key achievements include the development of soil health maps, foliar nutrition packages, and the innovative “KSHEMAM” portal for soil health cards. The Division also collaborates with ISRO on CO₂ flux studies and engages in research on nano fertilizers, long-term fertilizer trials, organic amendments, and precision farming using GIS and GPS technologies.

Additionally, mobile soil testing campaigns deliver instant nutrient recommendations to farmers, ensuring sustainable and efficient coffee production across regions.
