About Chikkamagaluru

The district Chikkamagaluru has history of about five decades. Located in western ghats boasts prestigious distinction of being birthplace of coffee. Densely forested mountainous district has references of places from mythology to retained seat of administration of Kadambas & Chalukya's. Home to mighty Hoysalas, and noted reign under Vijayanagar empire the district has continued attention as spiritual & tourist attraction place.

Beyond its history and scenic landscapes, Chikkamagaluru is synonymous with coffee culture. The popular story is that of Baba Budan, a 17th-century Sufi saint. On his pilgrimage to Mecca, he is believed to have brought back seven coffee beans from Yemen and were planted in the hills of Chikkamagaluru, today known as Baba Budangiri Hills, marking the humble yet historic beginning of India’s coffee journey.
